Assault
Edit
Assault is a Tier Three talent in Roland's Infantry tree. Each point increases magazine size and reduces recoil with Combat Rifles.
Effects
Edit
Increases Magazine Size and reduces Recoil with Combat Rifles.
+(9...45)% Magazine Size and Recoil Reduction
| Level | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Magazine Size and Recoil Reduction | 9 | 18 | 27 | 36 | 45 | 54 | 63 | 72 | 81 |
Ranks beyond 5 may be acquired through the use of class mods.
Usefulness
Edit
While not necessarily a bad skill to have, Assault suffers from competition: It increases the ammo capacity of Combat Rifles, but less so than Overload, which does it for all weapons. Furthermore, the Recoil Reduction tends to pale in comparison to the potential +150% from proficiencies, and the potential +195% from a Rifleman class mod. Finally, for a skill dedicated to Combat Rifles, Assault doesn't even increase their damage.
If the player is able to find a good Combat Rifle early game, then Assault can be an extremely interesting skill to have. However, by late game putting points into it will feel like they are wasted.
Notes
Edit
- This ability stacks with Overload to increase magazine size.
- Because the magazine size increase is percentage based, combat rifles with smaller ammo capacity are still more greatly affected as a rule. Increased ammo capacity increases fire time/overall time. Let's assume Gun A can fire for 4 seconds before reloading, which takes 1 second. The ratio here is 4/5ths. Doubling capacity we would then have 8/9ths. Gun B can fire for 2 seconds before reloading and also takes the same amount of time to reload (1 second). The ratio here is 2/3rds. Doubling capacity gives you 4/5ths. Going from 2/3rds to 4/5ths is a 20% increase, while from 4/5ths to 8/9ths is an 11% increase. Thus rifles with a poorer fire time to reload time ratio are more greatly affected.
