This name is a reference to a line in the movie "Just Friends" where Ryan Reynolds gets dumped by a girl named Athena. Her parting words to Ryan are "Athena, Out." Athena in-game also uses this as a catch-phrase of sorts, ending most if not all ECHO transmissions with it.
