For the enemy in The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned, see Defiler (enemy).

Defiler is a legendary revolver manufactured by Maliwan.

Examples are on the talk page.

Special Weapon Effects

Give Sick – Corrosive x4, chance for increased contagion. Drastically increased damage.

Usage & Description

The Defiler has a strong corrosive elemental accessory, as well as increased raw damage. The Defiler accessory is the only accessory available for Revolvers that increase damage. Only Jakobs revolvers can match the Defiler in raw damage output, and that's without the Corrosive effect.

The Defiler is most effective at medium range, but does not suffer any weaknesses at close or long range, and is exceptionally well suited to fight all forms of Crimson Lance (except Lance Chemical Troopers). Critical hits are often fatal, but body shots also do exceptional damage due to the strength of the corrosion on the Defiler.

The Defiler, in addition to high damage and elemental effect, has increased contagion. This is activated when an enemy is shot and afflicted by the corrosive elemental effect of the Defiler. If a corroding enemy becomes adjacent to any other enemies currently unafflicted, and those enemies are not resistant to the corrosive element, those enemies will then become afflicted. This tactic is useful on tightly-packed groups of enemies.

Mechanics

The Defiler gets its effect from the acc3_Maliwan_Defiler_Corrosive accessory, which is based off the acc3_Corrosive accessory. The acc3_Maliwan_Defiler_Corrosive accessory increases damage output, whereas its generic counterpart, acc3_Corrosive, reduces it. For an explanation on how to interpret the information on the following table, please see the stat modifiers page.

acc3_Maliwan_Corrosive_Plague acc3_Corrosive
Damage: +15%
Tech Level: +14
Damage: -40%
Tech Level: +6

Notes

  • The only legitimate prefix for the Defiler is Pestilent.
  • Because the necessary component is its accessory, the Defiler's stats can potentially vary more than other legendary revolvers.
  • The Defiler can come with variations that only have 2 round magazines, but the trade-off for this is having exceptionally high damage.

Trivia

  • "Defile" in literal terms means to ruin or desecrate something revered or sacred, in this case it's in reference to this weapon's exceptionally high elemental effect damage.
