Development is the title of a group of common shotguns in Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. They are manufactured exclusively by Hyperion and feature the quad (Torgue) barrel.

Usage and description[]

As with all Hyperion shotguns, the Development is fully automatic but it also has the slowest fire rate among Hyperion shotguns. Compared to the other quads, its per-shot damage is moderate, but its firing mode gives it a high damage output. Even with the reverse recoil effect of Hyperion weapons, the Development is still only suited for short range.

As the Development consumes 4 ammo per shot, reloads will be frequent and the character's shotgun ammo reserve will be quickly depleted. The Stockpile Relic or Blood of the Ancients should be used to mitigate the heavy ammo use. If playing as Salvador, the 5 Shots or 6, Inconceivable, and Filled to the Brim skills and Hoarder class mod can be used to further extend shotgun ammo availability.

Notable Variants[]

  • OvercompensatorLegendary shotgun with extreme accuracy, reduced pellet count, randomly regenerates ammo in the magazine, and a very high fire rate.
  • ButcherPearlescent shotgun with extreme accuracy, reduced pellet count, randomly regenerates ammo in the magazine, and a very high fire rate.

Notes[]

  • The variants of Development in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel commonly spawns with Hyperion's new-style materials and prefixes which are the same as in Borderlands 2.
    • In addition to the Development, a variant of this weapon exists in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel as the Crowd-Pleaser made by the "old" Hyperion.
  • The Development is obtained randomly from any suitable loot source.
  • The Development only spawns at Blue or higher rarity.
  • Taking advantage of skills like Salt the Wound from Krieg or Interspersed Outburst from Gaige can boost the already high damage of this weapon.
