Usage & Description[]
The Tinderbox is the first unique weapon characters will typically encounter in their playthrough. It acts as an introduction to incendiary damage (if no other fire weapons have been obtained already) and is effective at damaging or igniting flesh targets. However, the fixed element, low projectile speed, and low ammo efficiency makes it unsuitable for general combat. The Tinderbox will usually find use during The Road to Sanctuary, where bullymongs and low-level bandits are aplenty, but will quickly be replaced soon after with more reliable weapons.

If A Train to Catch is active, a Tinderbox will drop after shooting the head of the snowman located in the southern area of Tundra Express, next to the vending machines. Once it is picked up or the mission is completed, it will not appear at this location again.
This is intentionally done by the developers in case the character has no incendiary weapon. Roland will state that he hid the Tinderbox.
The Tinderbox is a mission weapon for Clan War: Trailer Trashing but is not mandatory for completing the mission.
The Tinderbox's damage is boosted by grenade damage bonuses.

A tinderbox is a small container containing flint, firesteel, and tinder (typically charcloth, but possibly a small quantity of dry, finely-divided fibrous matter such as straw), used together to help kindle a fire.
The Tinderbox was dropped by Midgemong on Day 7 of the Borderlands 2 Loot Hunt. A hotfix on that day increased the gun's magazine size.
