Boom Stick

can someone please explain the point of this weapon?

its like sledged shotgun, plus rockets, but getting close enough to enemies to make any use of the thing causes you to blow yourself up! Hippojoe 08:41, December 10, 2009 (UTC)

Considering that there are some WAAAAY more accurate and destructive shotguns out there I feel that using it is more for shits and giggles. (For example against the final boss or skagzilla. Kill skagzilla with it and see the "little" bitch fly like an eagle (absolutely hilarious btw)

I have to admit though... I really... really... don't like Baron Flynt because that shotgun (despite being as accurate as drunk hobo shooting darts) really does kick the shit out of you if it hits. I got blown right off of the map (and killed) or straight up killed because of it on more than one occasion.

Yeah... this and several other of the "unique drop" weapons are more gimmicks than anything else. The Blister springs to mind, as does Whitting's Elephant Gun (a sniper with no scope? Really?!), and quite a few of the "flavah text" weapons. Heck, The Clipper is only great because you can get fire elemental damage at an early level. In the second playthrough, it's a joke. My Hellfire du jur was VASTLY SUPERIOR. <3 My current hellfire is about level 40, I just hit 50, and it's still the deadliest weapon in my arsenal.

The only situation where I can think it might be genuinely useful would be when attacked by A Lot of weak enemies. Scythid head-crab-wannabes... particularly in the race track's tunnel.

A single melee-happy enemy that can soak up a lot of damage might be a good target as well due to the knockback. Principal Guardians perhaps... but shock weapons are much more effective against them.

PS: Baron flint didn't give me much trouble really... Stick to cover and he'll never get a solid hit on you... 'cause this thing can't hit the broad side of... of... a planet. Sheesh.

The one thing I like this "burst fire" shotgun for is Lilith's stealth mode. a) Stealth b) get behind enemy c) melee if you're skilled that way d) pump him full of lead from melee distance and hope he dies before your "few seconds of reduced damage" run out (again if you're skilled for it). honestly the only reason i keep this gun around is because im a huge fan of evil dead / army of darkness soooooooooo other then that, its a terrible gun Wylde bil 21:53, December 10, 2009 (UTC)

It's not a bad novelty weapon, some times these goofy things can be fun to mess around with or duel just for fun. A Boomstick war with your buddies could be a lot of fun, and is way more interesting than any of the regular duels I've ever had. But yeah, overall it's a pretty terrible gun. Honestly the only shotguns I use are Hunter's Shotguns, they pack shots almost as tight as the Skullmasher but with 12-13 size clips and way higher firing rates most of the time. The higher spread shotguns and the ones that shoot rockets are pretty weak compared to alternative weapons. --Wang Foolio 21:59, December 10, 2009 (UTC)

I personally like the Boomstick a lot. I'm not a big fan of rocket launchers and this gun can fill that space effectively. It's also pretty handy for taking out Mel's patrols and such. I guess it's easy for me to love though since I'm playing Roland with a massive ammo regen mod and currently lvl 28 shotgun proficiency. When you can shoot and reload that fast and you can afford to burn ammo like that it's all good!

I've used the boom stick to great effect with a master blaster Brick, just keep it in reserve, and when you would need to reload in front of a bunch of crimson lance, just whip it out, fire away, and if it doesn't outright kill them, it should at least let you get away.
