Minigun is the Title of a group of common Assault Rifles in Borderlands 2. They are manufactured exclusively by Dahl, and use the Vladof-manufactured minigun barrel. Miniguns are only available in green-rarity or above. The Minigun is obtained randomly from any suitable loot source.
Usage & Description
The Minigun is Dahl's version of a rotary assault rifle, using the three-barreled design seen in weapons like the Spinigun. As with other rotary rifles the three-barrel design significantly improves the weapon's fire rate, but unlike other brands Dahl Miniguns achieve their maximum fire rate immediately with no "spin up" time.
Though the rotary weapon fire rate delay is not present on Dahl Miniguns, the rapid accuracy loss seen in other rotary weapons is. Sustained, unscoped fire with a Minigun will cause the weapon reticle to expand to a noticeably large size in a very short amount of time, becoming highly inaccurate.
Like all Dahl weapons Miniguns have a burst fire mode when zoomed, but because of the weapon's unique barrel three bullets are fired for each "shot" in the burst. On most Miniguns this makes for a 9-round burst fired in a fraction of a second, dramatically outpacing the fire rate of nearly any other weapon. Bullets fired in burst fire mode are also delivered at high accuracy, retaining that accuracy even over multiple closely spaced bursts. This makes Miniguns very effective at putting a large amount of bullets downrange over long distances at low spread.
