The Pitchfork is a legendary sniper rifle manufactured by Dahl in Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. In Borderlands 2, Pitchfork is obtained randomly from any suitable loot source, but has an increased chance to drop from Terramorphous the Invincible.

Special Weapon Effects

Mainstream'd! –  Fires 5 horizontal shots in a line, shaped in a "V" pattern. Consumes 2 ammo per shot.

Usage & Description

The Pitchfork has a tight 5 projectile spread and fires in bursts when zoomed. When trying to lead shots on enemies moving laterally, the spread greatly increases the chance of landing a critical hit. One can also utilize the burst by waving the gun down or up quickly during the burst, to help avoid a miss due to a sudden duck or roll that some of the bandits do.

It is also very good against large bosses like The Warrior or Terramorphous the Invincible since it is much easier to land most of the projectiles, if not all.

The extra 4 projectiles are not listed on the Pitchfork's itemcard, meaning every projectile receives full amp damage.

Trivia

  • The rifle's name and flavor text is a reference to the 'Borderlands is for Real Gamers' video, starring a fictionalized version of Gearbox president Randy Pitchford. The flavor text is a direct quote from the video.
  • This weapon was first shown in IGN's 'Gunzerker Class Preview' and was the earliest leaked weapon, through the video.
  • Because of the combination of the unique spread and the damage from a sniper rifle, this gun is a great weapon choice for getting the "No Scope, No Problem" and "Leaf on the Second Wind" sniper rifle challenge.
