Retcher is a Seraph E-tech shotgun manufactured by Tediore. The Retcher can only be obtained as a rare drop from Hyperius the Invincible in Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode or from the Seraph Vendor in Oasis in True Vault Hunter Mode and Normal.

Special Weapon Effects[]

Ewww – Always corrosive. Shoots arcing projectiles with a shorter arc than other Splatguns. Consumes 1 ammo per shot.

Usage & Description[]

The Retcher fires arcing projectiles with a short arc, severely limiting the range of the weapon. This actually works to the Retcher's advantage, making it easier to control the area of impact on the projectile despite the weapon's low accuracy. It also lacks the double ammo usage of an E-tech weapon, making it one of the few Seraph weapons that does not suffer from an extremely decreased magazine size.

The Retcher's reload effect is modified from the behavior of a standard Tediore Splatgun. The two grenades are launched at a much higher arc than normal, typically such that they will impact the ceiling of virtually any indoor location. Because the grenades detonate on impact, the usefulness of this feature is limited, especially since the blast radius of the child grenades is very small. Confusingly, the child grenades are explosive rather than corrosive, despite being green in color.

Overall, the performance on the Retcher is very similar to that of a generic Tediore Splatgun, even with the shortened projectile arc. Its reduced ammo usage makes it much more damage-efficient than E-tech Splatguns, especially with the Gentle prefix, and gives it a greater number of shots per magazine, but it also lacks the increased status effect chance of a Splatgun.

Notes[]

  • The Retcher's gun damage is boosted by grenade damage bonuses.
    • Being a Tediore weapon, the Retcher's reload damage is also increased by grenade damage bonuses.

Trivia[]

  • To "retch" means to make an attempt to vomit.
