Special Weapon Effects
Edit
Poison in your veins - Corrosive x3 or x4, serpentine bullets. Increased magazine capacity, lower recoil, increased damage, increased accuracy and increased chance to proc.
Usage & Description
Edit
The Serpens is not unlike the S&S Draco. Apart from being Corrosive rather than Incendiary, the Serpens shares almost all of the traits of the Draco: Great accuracy, large magazine, useful in most situations. The Serpens carries a higher Damage spec than the Draco. While the Serpens will not proc on every shot, it does have increased chances to proc vs. a generic support machine gun, as well as a chance to proc without consuming a portion of the tech pool.
While the Serpens packs both great damage and great precision, its slower moving serpentine bullets can make it less efficient at tracking mobile targets (such as Lance Rocketeer) or hitting enemies behind tight cover (the bullets have a tendency to hit the cover first). On the other hand, the Serpens excels when used against targets in the open, slower moving targets and all flavors of Badass enemies, Skags, Devastators, or Turrets.
Drop Guide
Edit
The Serpens has a chance to drop from Badass Bruisers, Drifters, and Skyscraper. Like all pearlescents, the Serpens can also be dropped from Crawmerax and found in Crimson Lance weapon chests.
Notes
Edit
- The only legitimate prefixes are 'Glorious', 'Support' and 'Scoped' 1.
- The gun fires elemental and non-elemental shots. The elemental shots fire out in a serpentine pattern, with x3 procs moving in a quicker and more wavy pattern and ending with a small corrosive explosion. The x4 procs move in long winding curves and have a large explosion.
Trivia
Edit
- The name Serpens is Latin for "snake".
- There are numerous possible lyrical references stemming from the flavor text on the gun due to its vague nature. Possible references include Yngwie Malmsteen, Bayside, and Alice Cooper.
Mechanics
Edit
The Serpens effect comes from the acc4_SandS_Serpens accessory. It is based off of acc4_Deathly, but also benefits from the fire effects of acc3_Corrosive. unlike acc3_Corrosive, which reduces damage, acc4_SandS_Serpens will increase damage. acc4_SandS_Serpens shares many characteristics of acc4_SandS_Draco_Incendiary. For an explanation on how to interpret the information on the following table, please see the stat modifiers page.
