Safeguard is a Tier One talent in Brick's Tank tree. Investing skill points in this skill increases the strength of your shield, up to a maximum of 40% at rank five.

Strategy Edit

While at first glance this talent may look less efficient than Hardened because it only gives 8% boost to shield per skill point (Hardened gives a 12% boost to HP per skill point), your shields generally take damage much more often than your hit points, making this skill more useful than the numbers alone imply. In general, most Brick builds maximize both of these skills to take full advantage of Brick's durability.

Also, bear in mind that shields typically regenerate at a much faster pace than health. Combining this skill with a shield-focus tank build, maximizing Unbreakable, and a large capacity shield, and with a bit of careful play, it will become very rare for your character to take significant health damage.

Builds like these are not recommended in player-vs-player against Hunter class characters, as Trespass completely bypasses shielding. Instead, use the Hardened skill, Torgue Macho shields and appropriate COMs to maximize your health.
