Makes their brain hurt – Fires 6 projectiles, at the cost of reduced accuracy. Damage per projectile is also reduced, but the total damage dealt by all 6 projectiles is still greater than other non-Legendary sniper rifles.
Usage & Description
The Skullmasher is a cross between a shotgun and a sniper rifle. Like a shotgun, it shoots multiple pellets with every pull of the trigger, and like a sniper rifle, the weapon is scoped, accurate, and deals heavy critical damage. The Skullmasher is not quite as accurate as a normal sniper rifle due to its spread, while at the same time the spread usually guarantees partial contact. When firing from close to medium range, a well-aimed shot in which all projectiles hit their mark is usually fatal. Another interesting feature worth noting is the Skullmasher's high knockback capabilities due to the Jakobs material and multiple pellets per shot. The knockback is powerful enough to stop a Lancer in its tracks. Handy for getting headshots in Jakob's Cove to produce Zombie Brain's, as only one projectile needs to critical hit to trigger the drop.
Notes & Trivia
- This gun is very effective against Crawmerax the Invincible due to the extreme critical damage.
- Very useful to shave off Bloodwing cooldown with Mordecai's Carrion Call skill.
- Skullmashers with an XX prefix have great knockback, allowing them to be used for unconventional purposes, such as hurling unoccupied vehicles into otherwise unreachable areas. Racers work well, but are subsequently limited to use only in DLC3.
- The knockback can be used to easily defeat Baron Flynt. If shot from a right angle, he might fly off The Thor and die before most of his minions spawn. The player may not get any XP from the kill, but his loot can still be collected from the ground.
The Skullmasher effect is acquired from the barrel4_Jakobs_Skullmasher barrel. While based off barrel4, it has very little in common with its generic counterpart. Overall, the Skullmasher deals about 50%-100% more Damage than an equivalent non-Skullmasher Sniper Rifle.
