Dazing significantly reduces the rate of fire, accuracy, movement speed and projectile speed of almost all enemies in the game. (The Rakk Hive is a notable exception, as are Crawmerax and The Destroyer.)
Significantly for a melee engagement, dazing also reduces enemies' rotation speed. At melee range, this allows the Siren to circle a dazed enemy faster than the foe can pivot to face her, thus allowing her to avoid counterattack. She can also more easily reach critical hit zones that are usually inaccessible, such as the abdomen of a Spiderant, or the back of Sledge's head. Intuition can greatly enhance this advantage.
- Striking is less likely to affect higher-level opponents, and more likely to affect lower-level opponents.
- Striking works both during normal melee attacks and for the melee attack inside Phasewalk. It works for melee attacks made with a bladed weapon (such as a Razor) as well as empty-handed default melee attacks.
- For additional damage while striking, invest skill points in Venom, Hit & Run, or Phase Strike, or wield a bladed weapon.
