The Invincible Son of Crawmerax the Invincible (hereafter referred to simply as 'Son of Crawmerax', or 'The Son') is a raid boss in Borderlands 2 DLC pack: Sir Hammerlock vs. the Son of Crawmerax. He is created after the original raid boss from Borderlands, Crawmerax the Invincible.
Involvement
The Invincible Son of Crawmerax the Invincible is the final boss featured in the fifth and final Headhunter DLC, Sir Hammerlock vs. the Son of Crawmerax, for Borderlands 2. Once players complete the main mission of the DLC and the following side mission, they may return to The Deep, pay 20 Eridium, and fight The Invincible Son of Crawmerax the Invincible.
Strategy
The Son has a rather high amount of health and three very powerful attacks. The first is a claw attack that will put a Vault Hunter very close to Fight For Your Life; the second, a volley of corrosive orbs with a small splash radius in a quick succession, which can be dodged at long ranges; and the third, a dive into the ground and back up, doing damage in an area symbolized by a purple circle. A final move that he uses is not a damaging one - when his health goes down to approximately two-thirds, he will glow white and dive into the ground for a period of time, regaining some health. He will do this again when his health is at a third. The most difficult part of the fight when trying to solo him is the beginning, because there are no enemies available for second winds until after he dives into the ground for an extended period of time.
It is recommended that when fighting him, some form of quick regen should be employed during the first stage of the fight, such as Moxxi's Grog Nozzle or Rubi revolvers, and a grenade such as the Quasar, Chain Lightning or Storm Front. Once other enemies spawn, which happens very frequently, the fight becomes much easier. These enemies consist of Craboids and Varkids, and a powerful shot from a launcher will easily take them out.
The Son has four critical spots: glowing purple orbs that are on his chest and behind his arms. It is possible to remove his claws when dealing enough damage to these points much like Loaders When slagged, if hit with a weapon such as the Unkempt Harold, he will take massive damage. He resists all damage on his outer shell, and resists corrosive and slag damage on his underbelly; it is advised to use a powerful explosive, shock or fire weapon such as the Unkempt Harold or the Sand Hawk paired with the The Bee for the maximum damage output. When he is defeated he will drop a bunch of loot, including skins, heads, Eridium, rare weapons and legendaries.
Notes
- All of his attacks are very similiar to those of his father, Crawmerax the Invincible.
- In the treasure room, two chests are hidden behind the waterfall within the chamber that is only accessible after beating the Son at least once.
- It may be difficult to farm him efficiently, since the area must be fast traveled from and back to, and the 20 eridium fee has to be paid, though 25-30 will usually be earned from the fight
- Entering The Invincible Son of Crawmerax the Invincible's arena costs 20 eridium. This is the second most to fight a boss in the game. (Behind Dexiduous the Invincible, and the same as the Ancient Dragons of Destruction.)
