Unregistered edits

In regards to the unregistered edit made to my posting, I did not make any unregistered edits on the Legendary Weapons forum, but after checking the post your link directed me to I found no major discernible difference in my post other than a couple of grammatical errors which were probably my fault from typing too fast and not checking. I don't think it's a problem therefore, but if you see the same user's IP showing up again please let me know. All my edits are always made while signed and carry my signature, so anything not as such is not by my hand. I have however, now fixed a couple minor grammatical errors in my own posts. Hmmm, I think i was thinking of a different post I had made. I haven't posted any ideas on the Legendary weapons, but the ones I have are "The Duke" (shotgun), "The Farragut" (shield),and "Fat Boy" (rocket launcher), all of which have proper text and references upon me checking today. Based on what you are saying, I believe that my response to the "Black Sun" machinegun was confused with the actual weapon description posted by its creator. In short, it was not my weapon, only the line saying "this may be a bit overpowered" was mine. I have edited this for clarity by offsetting my post with a bullet point, hopefully this clear up the confusion. Also "douche" is not a preferred word of mine, for were I to get angry like the original poster I would more likely use one of the many rather elaborate Shakespearean insults I know. A message from Dr. HAX

In response to your most erudite query as to the psychology of users of OP HAX, there are many likely scenarios which I, Dr. HAX, believe occur regularly. Many people have a low tolerance level for hard challenges like Crawmerax, and when given an "easy way out" through things like modded weapons they will take it rather than persist. Many, as Dr. F seemed to allude to, also are lacking something in the way of skill and/or ego, and compensate by using OP HAX to lessen the challenge and give them an excuse to boast "hey guyz i killed crabmerix in one minute, lolz" - in short, they use OP Hax to feel better about themselves, much as many stupid hacking fags players will use lag switches or other hax in competitive games like MW2 to gain an advantage and allow them to do better despite lacking any talent. Many are also impatient, and choose OP hax because it is faster than trying to practice and become good, or choose OP HAX because they do not like failing at all (even though it is a natural part of getting better at most anything), and OP HAX allows them to avoid this. Even as a mod buster myself, I can understand the glee one feels form effortlessly killing previously annoying enemies, but this is a glee born of proven legitimate experience fighting them through normal means, and is a temporary source of amusement at best. Since most users of OP HAX are doing so in an online context, the rationale for effortless slaughtering of poor giant worms who were only trying to kill you is less about the worms so much as it is about making an impression on other players designed to (falsely) enhance a sense of worth which is lacking. - Dr. HAX alias Skeve613 23:59, June 12, 2010 (UTC)

Signature

Your signature image is showing up on the "recent changes" feed (in My Home and such) because it hasn't been used enough. Once an image is really common (on a lot of wiki pages, forums included) it will stop showing up (see: Dr. F's sig, my sig, etc.). However, if I were to add an image to my sig, the image would show up on the "recent changes" on My Home until I had made the requisite number of posts with it. Hi Fryguy - sorry I haven't got back to you - didn't notice your message somehow. Yes I game on PC, but I've never played online - wouldn't have a clue how you go about it, and I'm not sure if my lousy 1.5MB ADSL is fast enough anyway (Australia has some of the slowest and most expensive internet connections of the OECD - would you believe Turkey has faster average broadband speeds than OZ?). But if you think it would work and you can tell me how to go about it I'd give it a shot. ( I take it that was what you were suggesting - playing online?) Would I need a headset? I like your reference to the "early 90's and the heyday of the video game arcade" in your About Me section. Hah, you young pups don't know the meaning of the phrase: I'm old enough to remember them wheeling the very first Space Invader machine (upright, black & white screen with coloured transparent vinyl overlay to make you think it was in colour) into my local pinball parlour back in 1979 or thereabouts, and I wasn't that young then. So began my addiction to video games, Donkey Kong! Defender!! Donkey Kong Jr (oooh! 16 bit colour!!!!), Q*bert, Qix, 1942 ... No the 80s was the heyday of the video game arcade. I'd be a rich man if I had all those 20 cent pieces back that I fed into those slots.

Spleen venting

Goddamn HAXXor's. OP modders have made a hash of the formerly friendly Borderlands gaming community. From not being able to appreciate a nice weapon/shield/COM find without going over the code with a magnifying glass to not being able to GIVE weapons away because they're "mods." Case in point: I've been farming the new 3PDLC's for a little while now and I have many duplicates of Pearlescent weapons and high-quality COM's. Now, when I was a baby Hunter a kindly young man came into my game and gave me several high-leveled weapons to keep or sell as I saw fit. I kept a few and sold the rest to achieve the "How Much For The Planet?" Challenge. So, now that I am a Hunter-all-grown-up, I want to pay it forward, so to speak. So I decided to drop into random games to give away a selection of weapons and items, always asking permission first. It did not go well....

The Truxican Wrestler COM I was wearing: "Mod!" The Level 61 Elephant Gun I was carrying: "MOD!!!

ANY freaking Pearl I tried to GIVE AWAY: "MOOODDDDD!!!!!"

And 4N631 forbid I try to hand out some cool Gearbox wep's: Out come the torches and pitchforks. "Burn!! Burn the modder!!!"

It's a damn shame that it has it has come down to this. Even the most altruistic act is met with hostility because of the G'damn HAXXor's have made everyone paranoid and suspicious of everyone else.

Full disclosure: A modder friend re-built a .sav file for me when I corrupted it. I am not pissed at people who "take apart the toaster" to see how it works. I'm pissed at the HAXXor's who make take apart the toaster, rewire it with a tactical nuke, and try to pass it off on (previously) unsuspecting gamers.

Gearbox Weapons

Hi Fryguy, I saw your awesome collection of gearbox weapons. I was just wondering if the only way to get level 61 gearbox weapons is the crows nest? I have some nice gearbox weap's, but when I turn in the circle of duty missions, the level maxs out @ 59. Also, is the Crows nest the only way to get Gearbox Shotguns and Revolvers? I know the CoD gives away a pistol for round 2 and a CR, RL,Sniper, or SMG depending on class, but I have NEVER seen a revolver or shotty before. Thanks.   Uberorb  

hiya, orb. a few thoughts regarding your question(s). first off, thanks. i think it's pretty awesome, too. :D gearbox wep's aren't the fastest, strongest, or most virulent in the game, but they are the most unique (until the nest at least). that was one of the things that turned me on about borderlands: with 78 kajillion guns out there to find chances are (were, until willowtree) every gun you found was relatively unique.

but, sadly, the short answer to your question is "no." the only way to find level 61 gearbox weapons (and shottys / revolvers) is in the loot-in-the-box chest hidden in the nest. (see pic. 99% gearbox.) to the best of my knowledge, and that of the wiki, cod does not give out level 61 wep's. now, perhaps i am mistaken, perhaps you are looking at your weapons equipped... with low prof's to affect the displayed level.....? but i kinda doubt it.

• to add insult to injury the fifth column also yields a level 61 rider along with many other level 61 boss wep's. {sorry, xboxer's and pser's}     the frumious fry   01:41, August 5, 2010 (UTC)

Seems like everything is good now. I found out that holding control while clicking on a mac is the equivalent of a right click, so Now I can Make charts! Take a look at the Anarchy in the Gearbox section of my Inventory. It's like... some words that I can't think of.

When I hold it I think I should be smoking a pipe to fit in with the material.

re: source code, when editing a page, after clicking on "edit this page" or "edit" the page you are taken to allows you to edit in "rich text," a simple, no-frills way to add content. however, at that rich text page you will see a button in the top right corner labelled "source." editing in source code allows the editor to add more complex content, such as text coloring, images, and videos, and to create objects like userboxes and links to other pages. i'd suggest that you open two windows on your pc. open my userpage in both but edit one page in "source code." you will see the difference between the two and perhaps begin to learn the tools of editing in source code.

apparently i was leaving a post on your talk page as you were typing this. (lol) deleting posts to a thread other than your personal talk page and / or userpage will not get you in trouble, so to speak, although it is generally frowned upon. forums created in the mainspace are considered public property and as such content added by the public should not be deleted. rather, consider copy / pasting the content to your forum's talk page. if the content is such that you do not want to view everytime you look at the talk page consider creating a subpage of the original forum by creating a new "wiki" using the exact spelling, capitalization, and punctuation of your original forum.... {slash}"new name". for example, create a new wiki entitled "Forum: Ideas for new types of weapons!/archive" or similar. then copy / paste the unwanted content to the archive page. that way the material will still be extant, only tucked safely away.

i'm afraid i have no link for that tidbit. just found knowledge from around the wikia. hence the "reportedly." that edit was simply an undo / correction to the previous post stating that patch 1.5.0 would add 11 skill points, one for every new level gained. frankly, i'm curious myself how gearbox is going to pull that off. on one hand, it'd be nice to gain that many skill points. on the other, without the addition of new skills to spread those new skill points out across (0.01% chance of that happening) it would seriously diminish the uniqueness of personal character builds that the current skill-to-point ratio allows.

wow, er, where do i start? i kinda didn't make that edit.... i don't use gearcalc, much less monitor the gearcalc forums for accuracy. also, that edit was made 2 1/2 hours before i got home to my pc. three things may have happened:

1. frychick inadvertently undid the edit because she's unfamiliar with wiki editing procedures; 1% chance of that happening as, because of that, she avoids the wikia for fear of messing something up.
2. my dog is a troll.
3. i "pocket edited." i have taken my (wiki-registered) touch screen celly out of my pocket after checking recent activity only to find it on some random page. odd, but possible. and most likely.

I have many legendaries MANY!!!!!! I have every last one of those little bastards and am very willing to trade you like 10 equalizers for a level 1 gun!!!!!! I have near 30 equalizers. None of them modded, all from Crawmerax the Equalizer dropper. I swear thats what her name should be. I also have many Volcanoes that are way better than the ones you have in Mordecai's load out slide show. And am willing to trade or just give them to you. I have probably 15-20 volcanoes. I have about 15 anacondas and unforgivens. Just ask and you will most definitely recieve. And i don't mod. I just have a few that i picked up from modders, but none of my legendaries are modded.

Would I put Lilith pics up as "Images of objects"? (that seems a bit sexist). A reference to "Images of areas" (graphically) comes to mind, although, "Images of items" seems to fit... And "Screenshots" are extremely desirable as well... any "Icons" definitely intrigue me and the "Pre-Release" reference doesn't describe me at all...

Problem is that Borderlands is an RPG, and like most RPGs, bosses are only as hard as how underlevel-ed you are. Mothrakk usually hands everyone their ass, because he is a level 25, and you usually unlock the mission to kill him at around level 22. Same thing with Bone Head. If you go straight to him, its a level 3 vs level 8 fight...

I think a "Boss you enjoyed fighting the most", or "Biggest pain in the ass Boss" could make for an interesting vote. I personally love fighting Crom: If you don't snipe him from the bottom, it is a very intense run up to him. Happypal 12:50, February 18, 2011 (UTC)

mea culpa

i did not intend to come across as the poll nazi. i simply mean to encourage users to present fully-formed and pre-packaged ideas for wiki consumption, vice "i have a cool idea. here's half of it, please complete it." also, it occurs to me that the only set poll rules per se exist solely in my head, rendering it unfair to cry "you didn't follow the rules that no one knows exist but me and that i totally made up!" i shall edit in a "proposed rules section" on the poll discussion page soon for public vetting.

on one hand it was pointed out to me (off-wiki) by a trusted contributor that "IT'S JUST A POLL, MAN!" on the other, the weekly poll exists on the home page of the borderlands wikia and is one of the first things that many users see when searching for information and deserves to be somewhat formal and professional in appearance / utility.

in sum, i apologize if i came across too heavy-handed re: your poll suggestion. please see here and dis/approve this version of your proposal.

• are you editing in source mode or in WYSIWYG (or "standard") mode? many more options will open up to you when editing in source mode, specifically adding content to table, a task not possible in "standard" mode. the "drop down, edit, add" procedure will become less unwieldy when used in this manner, as well.

to categorize an image (thank you) simply open the file:image name page, select the "add category" button at the bottom, and type in the appropriate "category:blah blah blah." existing image categories may be viewed here. please note that it will not be necessary to categorize images of weapons as we will shortly be employing a CL4P-TP (bot) to do so. 08:02, February 20, 2011 (UTC)

Puzzle pieces are page elements which cannot be illustrated simply as text/graphics in the standard editor, e.g. code comments, notices. In more complicated cases, compare the page (or standard display) with the source editor to see which puzzle pieces are which elements if you are confused. More often than not, your edits will not involve the puzzle pieces - if they do, then you should already know how to edit the code involved in the source editor.  nagy   talklog     09:55, February 20, 2011 (UTC)

Muster:3PDLC

I think that the page would be much better organized if it was done in sections of 3PDLCs instead of per player, because it's just going to be a wall-o-text of Yes and No's as people add their names onto the table.

Suggestions:

1. Instead of having a table, the main page would be just links to each subpage

2. Each subpage would represent an unique 3PDLC

3. People who own the 3PDLC would sign on the page

The reason for this suggestion is because people who are looking for playing partners would probably be looking for a specific 3PDLC. Having to go down an extremely long (not right now, but in the near future) list matching each Yes or No to it's owner's sig would be very annoying. If we have a separate page, they can just go to the page and ignore any other 3PDLCs

categorization of images simply places the image in it's appropriate "folder." simply pull up the image file in question and click the add category button (shown in the image above). you may see the list of image categories on the "category:images" page. wiki convention dictates that a conversation continues on the talk page it was originated upon. kinda makes it easier for all interested parties to follow the thread. feel free to rip the content and create a new page, 'bot. it just seemed a little lite on content to warrant it's own forum page. in the meantime, if a new user adds one only adds a few images, i'm sure the community will be happy to 'cat them. i designed the template as a poke for established users and for users that image spam dozens of pics at a time. (note the wording of "remember to cat".) however, as always, all of my content (userpage excepted) remains in the public domain and is available for any user for whatever purpose.

I'm fine for "Unique Guns" (blue: Like "patton", "Bone Shredder" or "Kyro's Power"). However, for legendary guns, I think we should keep the manufacturer pre-fix. It corresponds better to the full name of the gun. Just the same way everyone says "Crawmerax", that doesn't keep the page from being at the full Crawmerax the Invincible. I for one do call them "Tediore Equalizer", or "Torgue Undertaker". Those that don't can use the redirects. Anyways, bold move you did there, not asking for anyone's opinion. i simply found the time to finish a project that was begun long ago (in wiki time). an effort to standardize the titles of all the weapons / items was begun... then abandoned, resulting in a mish-mash of titles like "the blister," "pestilent defiler," "torgue the meat grinder," and "hyperion the spy." discussion took place off-wiki with the other admins. to paraphrase Daem, inconsistency bugs the crap outta me.

note: the crux's were left alone. guardians received their separate pages à la the invader pages. i didn't have the heart to remove the hyperion title from the bitch smg. want to keep it pg-13.

When you deleted Cobra, to make way for the move, It would appear you delete the the full Combat Rifle Cobra page, rather than just a redirect. I'd check, but I don't have the privileges. Least useful skill tree skill?

I thought about doing most/least useful special skill, but lillith would probably win because everyone loves phasewalk, and Brick would probably win least useful because no one plays him. So, I boiled it down to the last 3 skill tree skills for each vault hunter.

Mordecai-

• Tresspass (Chance to bypass shields)

• Bird of Prey (increases the number of targets bloodwing can attack)

• Relentless (After-kill bonus to fire rate and bullet damage)

Brick-

• Blood Sport (Bonus to health regen after killing an enemy)

• Unbreakable (Bonus to shield regen after it's depleted)

• Master Blaster (Bonus to damage and slight rocket ammo regen after kill)

Roland-

• Guided Missile (Allows Scorpio turret to shoot guided missiles)

• Supply Pickup (Scorpio fires out supply pickups)

• Stat (Party-wide, proximity-based health regen upon kill)

Eridian Rifle

The E. Rifles I have had have all had mags that hold quite a few shot though i have never counted them. If it the comparison to the Mercurial you have a concern with feel free to rewrite it. I have found the rifle recharges fairly quickly as well, though again im not sure if that is due to profs. i think the comparison to the Lightning is accurate though, at least as far as damage and mag size goes. 03:09, May 5, 2011 (UTC)

no concerns about the comparison to the mercurial, in particular. i just wonder if we've seen enough different types of eridian rifles / blasters to draw accurate comparisons. i'm sure the issue will resolve itself as, hopefully, the recent activity devoted to the eridian weapons pages has raised their profile. they're a sadly neglected bunch and i'm glad to see them getting some attention. i'm rather fond of the alien weps myself and lil's is growing a respectable collection. i still remember the first time i saw one on another player and said "what the **** is that?!?" i also like doing inexplicably stupid sh*t like running the nest or going to jakobs cove with eridian only so maybe my judgement isn't the best. {{user|laughs}} 17:58, May 5, 2011 (UTC)

I like them as well though, from what i have been able to figure out, most people dont. I used Lightnings and Thunderstorms exclusively for Shock damage before actually finding an Orion, which i did not find untill after i got Knoxx back in june '10, after having the game since it release in Oct '09. I had some doubts on its inclusion. My conclusion is that users that don't know can just leave it blank, until a tech sees it. There is only a finite amount of shields on the wiki, so it is doable. Further more, I think it brings attention and awareness at this super important stat. Would you still be using your Ironclad if you knew it had an 11.2 second delay ?!

I don't think it is much work, as stated, there are a total of 4 unique shields in borderlands. That's hardly much. I can do it. Image recategorization

So I noticed you're doing a bit of work re-categorizing images. What raises an eyebrow for me is that my photos of shields are now "Category:Images of Class Mods". Personally, I'm not really bothered by what categories we do/don't have, but are there any plans to create "Category:Images of Shields"? (in addition to a cat for shields and one for class mods, images of grenade mods was created recently.) the definition of "items" vice "objects" was clarified also, allowing artifacts to be classified as items.

by wiki definition categories are used to help structure a wiki by grouping together pages on similar subjects. if and when this wiki gets to the point that it needs a {{category:bitching}} then one may be added. although, should that happen we'll have bigger things to worry about than organizing everyone's complaints. like the fact that we have so many complaints that we need a category for them... dotonetwonine's edit does not appear to have been made in good faith. however, if one person/robot has concerns then others may as well. the vandal's hoodlum's philistine's user's talk page has been left open for edit so that s/he/it may bich, er, make a case against blockage. 18:07, May 27, 2011 (UTC)

it can take several days for the wiki server to reset itself. any image problems that arise in the meantime (such as your sig images being left on the Special:WikiActivity) page should resolve themselves. if you continue to have problems a few days from today we'll look deeper into it.

the revolution is a non-unique drop that can be found in chests and vending machines and dropped by any enemy. farming and patience will eventually net you a revolution. 06:02, May 31, 2011 (UTC)

the only things that change would be the level of the baddies. on difficult, at 100% completion, "survival" was right. maybe "fought off frustration long enough to keep from throwing my monitor across the room" was more appropriate. the bosses went down easily but getting to the bosses was a level 75 pain in the ass. no limit on images per page. you are doing nothing wrong. as of the last wiki server reset several images around the wiki were unavailable. the problem appears to have resolved itself within the last few hours, possibly by virtue of another server reset.

thanks, mr. j, for helping to fill out the TAB page. are you editing in WYSIWYG mode or in source mode? source mode will open up many more editing options for you. i took a look at the image you are using for your avatar and found that the white bar is part of the original image. i would suggest either using an image editor (MS Paint, Photoshop, etc.) to remove the bar, or find another appropriate image.

re: my signature

Okay, so I figured out what the problem was. There are just certain bits of code that Chrome doesn't know how to do. One of those bits was the gradient background in my sig. Figured out, though, that I can also put the code for a solid background in there. Firefox will render the gradient, Chrome skips the part it doesn't understand and renders the solid color. Thanks for bringing this to my attention, because I learned something very important regarding <span> tags and how they interact. Range of mag sizes

Wasn't there some initiative to clearly specify mag sizes that can only be a few select choices? It's done for most/all of the revolvers, so why not combat rifles? Logisim 02:24, July 31, 2011 (UTC)

The revolver pages were done that way by me because they have such a low fixed possibilty of mag sizes that listing them as 2- 6 seemed confusing to me. With other weapon types having more possible mag sizes, listing them all would most likely be a waste of space. In the case of burst fire Combat rifles having 6, 12, 15 and 18 being only one extra. But if we are going for uniformity then the Revolver pages can be switched back. 03:24, July 31, 2011 (UTC)

Editing Baron Flynt

Hello, I want to edit the Baron Flynt page, I'm unhappy about the wording, and feel that what Helena Pierce says about him is also worth noting. The bit about his tribe and what she calls "that infernal contraption of theirs," endangering travelers going towards Santuary. That could mean that he is the reason the drawbridges in the Rust Commons East are up.

revolution

Fryguy 42 i came here wondering about the revolution, you edited it back to average/low damage(and kept my edit), when the average/low damage is naturally occuring on Vladof weapons. It isn't a trade-off for increased mag size the fire rate is the trade-off. i'm unsure that there is a way to confirm exactly which attribute is a trade-off for magazine size. however, if vladof weapons typically come with average damage and average fire rate then the existing note seems to stand up to reason. barring reason, if you would provide a link to a reliable source stating that vladof's high magazine size is at the sole expense of damage and not fire rate the page may be changed accordingly. thanks.

hello, auntarie. welcome to the world of End-User Created Content. you are correct in your post to Forum:Custom_Maps:_best_thing_since_sliced_bread?. you will need to install the oasis prior to installing any other 3PDLC. you will likely also have to install dr. zed's patch, which is commonly attached to 3pdlc files like the oasis. it has been the better part of a year since i downloaded and installed any 3pdlc, mate, and i was never very good at it in the first place. i often use the "carrot-and-stick" method with my pc: eat the carrot and poke at my pc with the stick until it complies. that said, the most important step may be to simply follow the "read me" directions included with the downloads word-for-word. also, i was in the habit of bypassing auto-installers, simply copy/pasting the .rar files to my desktop, unzipping them, and placing the files where they belong.

So I installed Oasis, and it seems to work just fine. But for TCN the foldets in which I have to copy stuff (example: Place SofaKingGood.UPK in C:/Program Files/2k Games/Borderlands/WillowGame/CookedPC if you bought retail).

I don't ever think that it was widely believed that BL2 for the PC would support split screen without a normally reliable source stating so first. thank you, veg, for the nod. the hardest part, really, is getting the skags and spiderants to sit still and smile for pictures. the bandits are easy. i just hold a squeaky toy over the camera and they stand rapt. there's still plenty of work to be done. images of the different claptraps, hyperion soldiers, mission rewards... the damn rakk-trap hive won't stand still for pics... badass psycho-traps try to eat me whenever i say "cheese..." i haven't the slightest idea what a hyperion sapper does... don't get me started on the rakk-traps... and there's still a lot of missing info, stuff we don't even have listed, like the dead rakk-trap hive, the saying on the rakk-trap hive's butt, the mines that the minac drops. I'm not even going to touch the crate locations. it's gonna take a few more playthrough's. and you know how much i love this dlc.

I'm not familiar with that daily report, but because it comes from community@wikia.com, I would recommend sending an email to that address (or using Special:Contact, which goes to the same place - the Community Support team) asking what's wrong. hiya, prissy. welcome to the wiki. we call 'em "userboxes," or ubx's for short. you can find a gallery of ubx's that have been released to the public domain in the userbox gallery. you can copy / paste the {{template}} or you can get fancy and crack into source mode and tweak them to your liking. some users don't overly mind it if you borrow their own custom-made ubx's, but discretion is the better part of wiki editing. enjoy.

Status uffects will be included as well. But seriously. I don't see Daze and Cripple as easily being shoehorned into the same bucket. One is an enemy state, and invites discussion on how to introduce the state, what to expect from foes afflicted with the state, and what to do with said foes. You sure it doesn't arc? I just took my Eridian Soldier through ZI, and he cooked Frankenbill and a couple of Tankensteins by arcing Flaregun shots over terrain. (Took forever. Underpowered weapon. Our job is to maintain a certain level of standard in how the information is presented/organized. we run a fine line on this wiki when it comes to presenting "cheats" and "exploits" as "fact." phenomena such as craw's "glitch spot" or the hole in the armoury floor are necessary evils as they are well-known, umm... i like to call them "developer screw-ups;" makes it easier on my conscience for using them. that said, i don't believe that "cheap" strategies belong on a fact-based wiki such as ours. i'd leave them for the talk page or the game forums. (some official game forums offer permabans for listing cheats and exploits on their forums as it often violates their ToA.) 21:38, February 6, 2012 (UTC)

I understand your argument, but I'd still argue that a "method to cheat" remains a fact. It is ugly, but it exists. That and we aren't a game forum. We aren't necessarily here to promote "fair" gameplay, or to exist within the boundaries of "not cheating". Our entire mechanics sections were reversed engineered from hacking, and I think there are even a few pages here and there on how to mod weapons. hello. in bygone days i was in the habit of awarding Leggy's, awards to my personal favorite weapon of the month. and another of our local code monkeys, User:Mr. Zaph, came along and started bringing the NWLIs to life, much to the delight of the ideas' submitters. (see the weapon pairings Hänsel & Gretel and the DV88 Magnum.) ultimately, public interest waned, and the leggy's (and zaph) went the way of the dozens of daily posts the forums were getting. the occasional new edit raises the profile of the NWLIs for a few days then they fall back into dreamless sleep awaiting another random edit or for me get motivated and clean up / add discussion links. that said, i anticipate a resurgence in traffic when BL2 drops. in the by and by, feel free to amuse yourself with animating your favorite NWLIs. i'm sure the community, myself included, would love to see their ideas come to life in-game!

i just had a rather spiff idea. what say that i turn the link images (at the top of the page) and the edit link (fixed to the right side / top page) into actual NWLI images? i'll start with the pistols (hansel), combat rifles (gretel), snipes (vigilante), and launchers (stingray). that would be sure to raise interest and please both the original posters and the current code monkey. that means we'll need images for the rest of the weapons / items:

You see I am currently constructing my own unique 3PDLC mappack, as Gearbox did I to want to add custom pearlescents and legendary's. Now I have the pearls pretty much covered (keeping to my own ideas), however I still need ideas for some specific ledgy's, how about holding a contest about who can come up with the best and most suitable ledgy idea? It'll encourage and pump the community I'd say.

I need the following:

1. An idea for a Maliwan combat rifle.
2. An idea for a S&S combat shotgun.
3. An idea for a Jakobs repeater pistol.
4. An idea for a Atlas machine pistol.
5. An idea for a Torgue revolver.

• are you still planning to "bring to life" other users' ideas as well as your own? i applaud your initiative and imagination in creating new weps for your dlc but i wish the newli's to remain a community page and would rather not see the opening page of the newli's to become a jaegerfest.
• the sheer number of submissions make a contest rather unwieldy. and i'm not sure the newli's have a high enough profile given the wiki's current state (in the doldrums, waiting for bl2). in lieu of a contest how 'bout a forum page, starting with a call out to the community for new submissions or arguments why their favorite newli would be a likely candidate for your new dlc? i'm sure that not many pc users (present company included), or any other platform for that matter, would pass on the opportunity for their ideas to be included in an upcoming 3pdlc.

i am simply offering the concept of a forum not in replacement of a contest but as a viable version of said contest. the rules, as would be the forum, would be yours. hence the "further discussion on the specifics to be continued, hinging on your approval of the concept" part. one such rule i had already anticipated was that ideas submitted must need be allowed by current game mechanics. of course, the final decision on that matter would be yours as the best qualified to decide what you can and can't do in your dlc. further, i would suggest limiting the actual contest forum to links directed to the appropriate newli page edit vice actual suggestions cluttering the forum (i.e. the submitter would post his/her/its idea to the newli forum and place a link on your contest forum.), perhaps accompanied by a brief summary, flattery, bribe, etc.

if you like i can create the forum, set up a viable format, rules, etc., bump it with links from all of the newli pages, then turn it over to you for the appropriate level of mongering. just say the word.

Chat

I was looking at the chat help page at wikia chat and saw that there are actually a bunch of fancy emotocons that can be used in chat other than the standard ones ive seen used. Alot of them work here in chat but a few do not, at least for me. It says that they can be added or adjusted by an Admin as described on the linked page.

Since you use Chat a lot , same as I do, i thought you might be willing to add or adjust them to work here. The ones i would like to see work here are the Hammer, Horns, Wave face, Giggle face, and maybe the dancing guy, though the color would need to be changed. If they work but im doing something wrong/ they work different here than is described at wikia, let me know please. good stuph, veg. +1 for digging those new emoticons up. i added in the full range of emoticons available from messaging.wikia. a few of them are not ideal for our black background, such as the horns or the dancing dude. but they are now available for use. i also added a note to the community corner re: chat, hopefully to direct more of our new users to join the convo. all we need now is a doorbell or flashing lights or the such, to let me know that i'm currently ignoring some poor soul that clicked in while i was editing something.

mordy's original .sav was heXXed to hell and back, agreed, but bricky and rols only had their banks / backpacks ENGORGE!d. I don't recall WT coming up in the Forum:Patch 1.4.1 recognizes accumulated experience dicso. are you saying that merely opening a .sav file in the shrubbery caused my rage stroke? that files that never saw the shrub were not auto-leveled?
